everywhere
that we go
you notice
us

you want
to talk
to us

to teach
us

to compromise
us

we try
to escape
by fleeing
to the hinterlands

the small
towns

the isolated
settings

but we find
that the fewer
the people

the more
attention
we attract

we tend
to stand
out

as oddities

atrocities

in the end
we return
to the cities

to be obscured
by a preponderance
of populace

for we
have discovered

through
embarrassment

through
indictment

that the best
way
to be left
alone

is to live
