Dreams 2022

Pale Sitter
(5/7/2022)

bad knees
have made me
a quasi-albino
cave creature

my only
sun
from transits
between automobile
and structures

so on
a sunny Saturday
I sit
for a bit
outdoors

half in

half out
of the west
facing
utility room

better
to shelter
the neighbors
from my
abomination
of whiteness

the sunlight
warms

the wind
cools

making
soothing sounds
through
the trees

through
the wooden
chimes

I hear
also
birds

barking dogs

how
peaceful

but then
the noise
of cars

lawn mowers

leaf blowers

the peace
becomes
chaotic

the warm
quite hot

I gather
my vitamin
D

limp
again
into my
sanctuary

20 minutes
of sunshine
affording me
a hint
of color

of course
I will
not be able
to match
the tanness
of my recreated
coworkers

but hopefully
I will no longer
be
such an ridiculed
anomaly

“did you
finally get
some sun
this weekend?"

yes

and the
sun
got me
