of online
TV guide

searching
for a clue
of my whereabouts

“you are
looking
at the wrong
programs”

an accented
voice
behind me
says

Russian?

Eastern European?

maybe Arabic
with an anglicized
bent

“try
the shorter
ones

maybe
a wildlife
show

you like
animals
after all”

sure enough
there’s a Wild
Wastelands
program
coming on
in a few
minutes

I want
to tell him
that even
the short ones
can be condensed
accounts
of many days

weeks

months

years

depending
upon
the topic

I realize
that I could
become lost
no matter
what channel
I choose

every option
opening
into a limitless
expanse
of now
