Dream 92

Glenn and I
come out
of my parents’
last house
in Andrews

we open
the garage
door

bring out
the lawnmower

other yard
tools

I ask him
where
he wants
to start
but his back
is turned

so I start
the mower
and cut a diagonal
across
the front yard

northwest
to southeast

right
to the edge
of the neighbors
lawn
on the far side

I see
that their grass
is overgrown
as well

knowing
that we’re also
supposed
to be taking care
of that

I begin mowing
along their
sidewalk

Glenn
is yelling
from behind
me

I can’t
hear
what he is
saying
for the noise

I look south
down the block
to see that all
of the yards
need work

we'll
never finish
them all
in one
day
