Dream 83

I am walking
through
the dining area
of a large
bar/restaurant

looking
for the restroom

I see
a sign

pointing
down

descend
the narrow
steps
to a small

dark

stinky
men’s room

there’s someone
standing
at the only urinal

“better
to wait
for me
than to try
the toilet”

Jeff
from work
turns his head
to say
with a grin

I can’t wait
however
so head
into the stall

it’s horrible

the stool
is filled
with dark goop

floating feces
and toilet paper

some of which
has already
spilled over
to the cement
and dirt floor

still
I unzip

but then
the level
of the liquid
begins rising
on its own

as if
some creature
were emerging
from the depths

I rezip

follow Jeff
up
the
stairs

laughing
as we go

at the top
the bartender
cuts across us
carrying a plate
of food

“I’d tell
him
about the shitter
if he wasn’t
about
to eat”

Jeff says

as we
walk toward
the bar

I still
need
to pee
