I am
at a party
of some
sort

many
well-dressed
people

talking

laughing

drinking

throughout
a large
house

I walk
from room
to room
seeing
more
and more
partygoers

I am looking
for a bathroom

I need
to pee

a few
stop me
to talk
but I
wave them
away

continuing
to meander
around
the large
structure

finally
I find
a recessed
alcove

with a
small
sink

I look
around

determine
that I am
blocked
from most
fields of view

unzip

free
myself

and start
to urinate
into the washbasin

just
as the flow
begins to go
Lisa pops
her head
around
the corner

she can see
my back

my head

but not
the act
itself

“what
did you find
to do?

she’s scanning
the scene

the invitees

not really
paying
attention
to me

“watering
the flowers”

I tell her

she smiles

still
not looking

“that’s nice
of you”

she wanders
away

I am
sitting
on the back
concrete stoop
of a small
rundown
house

the backyard
is mostly dirt

weeds

I am wearing
a suit
of some sort

it looks like
a Salvation Army
uniform

the sun
shines on me
but I feel
tired

depressed

Lisa
comes through
the open gate

stops
in front
of me

looks
down

shaking
her head

then walks
away

I think
that I must
have really
embarrassed her
at the party
