plain
but attractive
with a healthy
vitality

studying
me

I hear
myself say

“I could’ve
probably had
three kids
by now”

I know
that was
the end
of it

I had
unburdened
myself

completely

all
of my sins

all
of my weaknesses

I could
see her

thinking

analyzing

weighing
all options

“I’m glad
that you didn’t
have three

or two

or one”

she seems
to have made
a decision

“let’s go”

she says
standing

and I
follow her

happy
that she
isn't leaving
me
behind
