I am
at work

sitting
in front
of a large
open box

inside
a partitioned
cardboard grid
are many
long
tubular
parts

I am shining
a bright green
light
down
on each

“if they
are bad
the light
will change
color”

says a voice
from behind
me

“there
should be many
bad ones
in there

it’s an
old box”

he adds

I slowly
move from
one component
to the other

but the
light
never changes

I must
be doing
something
wrong
