Dreams 2022

Dream 100
(4/2/2022)

I am inside
a very messy
living room
that I do not
recognize

I hear
someone yelling
outside

I go out
through the
front door
onto an old
battered deck
littered
with junk

a lady
whom I
don’t know
is calling
a name
that I can’t
decipher

“the dog’s
gone”

she says
to me
in between
hollers

I look
over
the yard

overgrown

filled with
clutter
like the deck

beyond
is a run down
neighborhood

the street
lined
with other houses
in similar
condition

many people
are wandering
about

I hear
another woman
yelling
among them

thinking
that she must
also
be looking
for the lost
animal

I spot
her
on the sidewalk

an overweight
gray-haired
woman

naked
from the waist
up

heading
in our
direction

“she’s
shit-faced
again”

the lady
next to me
says

the drunk
weaves
into the yard

looking up
to where
we stand

“I just need
a little money”

she whines
pathetically

“you need
some clothes!”

my woman
tells her

~

I am sitting
on a very
nice

large

covered deck

illuminated
in the evening
by strings
of lights

many of us
are gathered
around picnic
tables

all
of the others
are young

well-dressed

they are
talking

laughing

an attractive
athletic–looking man
walking his dog
comes toward
me

the animal
is the size
of a Vizsla

but has
the colorings
of a German
Short Hair

the dog
begins
whining loudly
as she sees
me

straining
at her leash
to near

I tell
the man
that I didn’t
think
she would
remember me

she starts
making noises
like she’s trying
to talk

a yowling

a yarling

all
of the sudden
a word
comes out

“what
did she say?”

he asks

she said
my name

I tell
him

she said
Pat
