understand them

these people
who stage events
in order to
bring awareness
to something
else

they seem
to bring attention
primarily
to themselves

or to some
notion
that the
human condition
might improve
through their
actions

laudable

commendable

saint-worthy
no doubt

but if they
applied
such effort

such resources

silently

selflessly

to the problems
at hand

perhaps
those such
energies
would have
more
effect

and encourage
others
to simply
lend a hand

instead
of planning
some over the top
production

Brother Bollocks
hears of one
who plans
to skydive
onto the top
of Mount Everest

in order
to address
an issue
here

on the
ground

in the
United States

and wonders
what flag
he will place
upon that
distant
peak
