Brother Bollocks
rushes

he hurries

he becomes
inattentive

sloppy

when
a slower
more deliberate
method
would produce
more efficacious
results

he doesn’t
understand
his haste

maybe
he divines
that his time
grows short

that he has
much fewer
calendars
to peruse
at leisure

but his
accelerated vigor
unfortunately leads
to missteps

to omissions

to a dimmer
view
by his peers

he’s slipping
they see

but finally
Brother Bollocks
realizes
that his shortcomings
are mostly
of a material
nature

perhaps
these lapses
are reminders
to let go
of worldly
concerns

the many
barricades
between his soul
and God

his blunders
may be
freeing him
in this
advancing age

the mind

the body
failing
in order
to permit
his spirit
to soar

he’s simply
become
an old
dumbass
