the hubris
of youth
had told him
how smart
he was

how capable

but age
has peeled
away
those spurious
layers
of ego

sorely
exposing
a heart
of ignorance

some
still see him
as moderately
intelligent

an
insightful
idiot

a meaningful
moron

but
Brother Bollocks
has long since
realized
his truth

his limitations

he now
knows his place
in the perceptive
pecking order

a perpetual
fool

better standing
the periphery
in silence

smartest
only
in isolation

conjuring
the dead
hours
alone
