craves to be
the last

holding
to a notion
that somehow
they are so
special

that they
are so evil

that life
will not
survive
them

the stars
presage

the portents
predict

that time
for us
is ending
soon

as they
have indicated
for thousands
of years

Brother Bollocks
is not concerned
with annihilation

instead
he plants
a tree

hoping that
one day
the leaves
will shade
his grave

to shelter
the infrequent
visitor
from the
sun
