Dogs 2019

WIDE ANGLE
(2/10/19)

"there
are cameras
everywhere
now"

he seemed
gripped
by some frantic
technological
paranoia

"they
see everything

everyone"

genuinely
agitated
he looked
nervously
in every
direction

"I just
assume
that I'm on
video

24/7

constantly
recorded

nothing
that we do
is hidden"

suddenly
he just
walked away

head
on a swivel

I didn't
tell him
that I've always
felt that way

since
my earliest
recollections
of childhood

as if
I were always
on stage

even
when absolutely
alone

sourced
from some sort
of pseudo-narcissistic
egomania
I suppose

the belief
that what
I am doing
is important
somehow

that someone
is keeping
track

if not
God

then some
cosmic
moviemaker

because
my story
is just
that good

I smile

I wave

to the four
cardinal
compass points

then
once more
to the eye
in the sky

as I continue
to do
everyday

hoping
that my hair
is not
out of place
