by their
shop
today

the last
time
that I
stopped

I was
driven up
over the curb
by the force
of a collision

right into
their
parking lot

they were
not open
on that Wednesday
afternoon

probably
only doing
business
during the
morning

I was there
for two hours
that day

while
information
was exchanged

the policeman's
questions
were answered

the insurance
company
was called

and finally
the wrecker
hauled away
my totaled
vehicle

I was
the final
participant
there

no one
left
to explain
the occurrence
to me

feeling
much the same
as I do
today

sadness

a sense
of loss

a confusion
of circumstance

and on
this

a Sunday

just after
noon

they are
not open
either

too bad

I could
really use
a maple bar
about now

some hot
coffee

a simple
answer

or two
