painting
a coat
or two

this
is the way
that I spent
my evenings
when I moved
into
this house

now
after 16 years
the same activities
presage
my departure

reminds me
of paying off
my wife's debts
when she
arrived

then again
as she
left

if I'm handling
both extremes
of these
spectrums

I feel
as if
someone

somewhere

is slacking
domestically

just
a bit
