things
are so
interesting

history

science

religion

technology

social endeavors
or every variety

but having
an interest
does not automatically
vest us

does not
create
a yearning
to know
as much
as possible
about a subject

sometimes
walking
in a bracing
breeze

smelling
the fall air

the smoke
of hearth fires

or watching
a sleeping dog
warm in the sun
on an otherwise
cool
November day

seem much
more worthy
of our efforts

of our
recognition
