Dogs 2018

THE WAY I PRAY
(8/19/18)

I tuck in
behind
a slow moving
vehicle

I breathe
deeply

evenly

watching
the passing
scenery

looking
for things
lost
in the mad
rush
of the past

traffic
is my last
bastion
of anger

I use
the trigger
to rid me
of the trigger

we are
traveling
10 mph under
the speed
limit

other cars
honk at us
as they
fly by

I do not
wonder
why we are
going
so slowly

the reason
does not
matter

we are
alive
upon this miracle
of a planet

we are
blessed

with my
DUI past
I really should not
have the right
to drive
at all

I am
fortunate

I am
grateful

I will
still get
to where
I am going
in time

the obsession
with my importance
will eventually
be relieved
