MOCKINGBIRD MAYHEM
(6/5/18)

a thousand
different
places

a thousand
different
voices

spring
has wound
them up

the sun

the activity

have them gasping
in wide beaked
manic exhaustion

they rustle
about
in the bushes

wreak havoc
in the trees

dance upon
rooftops

hop upon
automobiles

they startle
other birds

animals

people

each other

they are
noisy whirlwinds
of gray

black

and white

we duck
for cover

waiting
for the heat
of the summer
to drive them
back
into hiding
