Dogs 2017

FLYBY
(3/24/17)

at our
current velocity
we'll have only
moments
for detailed
investigation

what was
until recently
just a blue dot
in the blackness
is now rushing
to fill
our portholes

we see
mostly seas
as we approach
the dayside

the land
masses are
scattered

no significant
structures
are detected

we do notice
quite a bit
of metal detritus
circling
the planet

but other
than a few
electronic emissions

minor explosive
devices

there is little
of interest
in these
extra-exospheric
moons

as we pass
the midpoint
we watch
a symphony
of lights
on the night
side

communities

transportation
pathways

they seem
a much busier
race
in the darkness

finally
as the orb
recedes

we again
look ahead

noting
our observations

"not much
of interest

no further
visits
required"
