Dogs 2017

AN A.M. CORPSE
(10/27/17)

after
a long day

exhausted

brushing
teeth

finally
minutes away
from bed

uncorrected eyes
spot a dark patch
on white
bathroom cabinet

spit

rinse

strain
to a focus

a small
spider

no instinct
for self preservation
apparently

maybe
a baby

I'm
too tired
to kill

to relocate
it

I finish

turn off
the light

hope
that those
many legs find
a secluded corner
during the night
to kill more
bothersome
insects

in the
morning
I turn on
the bathroom
light

the dark
patch
has come
to rest
on the white
porcelain
of the sink

extremities
curled
in death

I stare
for about
10 seconds

not a fan
of spiders
the sight
still seems
sad

turn on
the water

watch
the blackness
circle
down
the drain

time again
to brush
the teeth

at least
once
more
