Dogs 2016

MY KIND
(3/9/16)

I don't
run across
them often

just enough
to know
that they're
out there

they don't
carry
smart phones

they don't
have
facebook

or twitter
accounts

their cyber
existence
is practically nil

when they
walk among us
they meet
all eyes

at least those
not diverted downward
at some display
screen

they listen
to the environment

not to some
banal phone call
that could easily
wait
for a less public
venue

they do
have email
accounts

needing
a bit
of human buffer
in which to conduct
business

but don't
expect them
to answer queries
instantaneously

be patient

they'll check
their inboxes
in a few days

I am always
relieved
to find these
people

relieved
to know
that I am not
alone
in this socially
perceived
insanity

someone
to share
an acknowledged
head shake
of understanding
