IMMURING MOTIONS
(9/10/16)

the multitude
of menial
tasks
making our days
doable
seems endless

depressing
prerequisites
to really
living

no wonder
so many
turn to drink

to drugs

to crime

to insanity

anything
to break
that numbing cycle
of routine

waking

washing

wardrobing

swallowing
our chow

the first
60 minutes
of one day
almost indistinguishable
from the first
60 minutes
of another

what day
is it?

we're not
sure

the repeated
nature
or our lives
makes time travel
seem possible

we did
these same things
yesterday

will do them
tomorrow

calendars
become mirrors
of monotony

mocking
our inability
to break
these cycles
of psychic
incarceration

I may skip
brushing my teeth
before going
to bed
tonight

possibly
dream
different dreams

fearing
my next dental
appointment

maybe
not
