Dogs 2014

TIDAL REPEAT
(7/4/14)

every time
that my
few
meager
belongings
seem to be dry
and ordered
on this beach
called Divorce

I see it

another
brown swell
gathering
on the horizon

I sigh

the shoulders
droop
a bit

but I
keep
trudging
along

Life
is still good
after all

I'm breathing

able to
shelter
and feed
myself

even though
those basics
have become
a challenge
in recent weeks

I just
seem
to get settled
when another
shit swell
sucks away
more debits
from the checking
account

more charges
from credit
cards

carried off
to be lost
forever
at sea

I look
about me
to see
what's left
after the most
recent
deluge

my stake
on the sand
grows smaller
each day

I hold tightly
to my trunks
and towel
