BUSY DAY
(7/9/13)

I've
so much
to do
that I'm
at my desk
at 6am

vexed

perplexed

no clue
how to get
caught up

it bothers
me

I take
my job
very
seriously

even though
I realize
that my job
is not
very
serious

we provide
no vital
services

no one
will perish
from famine
war
or pestilence
if our tasks
are not
complete

other than
the several
individuals
employed here
nobody would have
any concern
if our company
simply ceased
to exist

still
I continue
to churn
and burn
as if this
white collar
dollar
were the
only thing
keeping me
alive

I contemplate
the formation
of our solar
system

the formation
of life

in an attempt
to relate
this convoluted
construct
of contorted
human values
to reality

still
this office
this computer
this paperwork
seem
so real
to me

I
dig in
for the daily
dead lift

fulfilled
by the
futility
of it
all
