Dogs 2012

PARKED POINTED SOUTH
(6/29/12)

inertia
inculcates
enormous
ennui
upon
me

I feel
as if
Ecclesiastes
has become
my cloak
of inactivity

life
has happened
all before
and will
continue
to happen
much the same
long after
I am
gone

the thought
weighs me
immobile

I read
the Apocrypha
looking for
non-canonical
answers
but I
only see
the same pictures
of religious
want
and confusion

I lay
the literature
away
and stare
into
uncaring
space

the infinite
tells me
to relax

smile

my only
requirement
is to live
while
I can

the sundry
machinations
of mankind
are simply
masturbatory
self indulgences
that get
none
of us
any closer
to any kind
of god

I put
the sun
visor
in the windshield

crack the windows
for the coming
summer heat

breathe
the already
too warm
morning air

get out
of the car
and
get on
with
it
