Dogs 2012

MISSED TURN
(6/19/12)

mishaps
happen

madness
distractions
or just
too damned much
going on
in our convoluted
lives

at times
we drive
right
on
by
our next
requirement
realizing
only too late
that our intended
direction
lay accusingly
in the rear
view

but
when we stop
in the middle
of everything
and everybody
disrupting
the otherwise
orderly flow
of events
in order
to correct
our mistake
we have ingrained
our inattentiveness
upon all of those
about us
as well

sometimes
we have
to just
suck it up
and live
with our
errors

perhaps
accept them
as God's
will
for us

gaze about
and take note
of our unexpected
surroundings
and search
for the newness
in the unplanned
vista
revealed

our
overlook
may be
an opportunity
for a new
viewpoint
upon the living
morass
surrounding
us all

but
if you stop
in the middle
of rush hour
traffic
lodged
in the left lane
looking wildly
about you

signaling
first
a left turn
then a
right

I may
have to bash
your goddamned trunk
straight up
your
fucking
ass
