Dogs 2012

BLACK INK
(1/7/12)

I find
myself
sitting
again
in the chair

feeling
the probing
burn
of another
tattoo

I stick
to the monochrome

the monochrome
sticks
in me

flesh
and darkness

my skinny
hairy body
not the canvas
for more colorful
and complex
renderings

instead
they are
many
small sketches

representations
of different aspects
and personalities
in my life

they are many
but they
are also
one

a relational
database
of art
and whimsy
defining
a whole

other
than my wife
and my body
artist
of choice
no one else
has seen them
all

they were not
meant
as a public
display

they are
a reminder

a secret
delight

for me
alone

as long
as I live

when I die
I have authorized
minions
of questionable
authority
to remove
and tan
my totemed skin

attached it
to stone

lacquer
it over
to last
for centuries

mark
my remains
in remembrance

in warning

of those
things past
and possibly
those things
yet
to come

flesh

and darkness
