OUT THE DOOR
(9/24/11)

I kill
the alarm
and I lie
here

I die
here

thinking
of the hours
ahead

too much
dread
for just
another
day

I know
that once
I shower
primp
get dressed
and finally
leave
this house
that it'll be
underway

the inertia
of the inexplicable
will take over
and the time
to consider
my plight

my fight

will be
gone

my life

will be
gone

a spilling
of water

a spilling
of blood

that I
watch
happen
but am powerless
to reverse

all
too soon
night will arrive
as will death
and daylight
will be
done

my life
will be
done

I lie
here

I die
here

I go
back
to sleep
