BARKING DOGS
(9/28/11)

annoyances
abound
in the cacophony
of modern
urbanscape

neighbors

their offspring

their animals

their machines

and assorted
electronic devices
emit disturbances
ad nauseum

we
can only
ask

plead

complain

file grievances
so many times
until the
uselessness
of those undertakings
becomes
understood

one noise
silenced
seems replaced
by dozens
newly
recognized

acceptance
appears
the only
answer
but that solution
lingers so lame
when what
we really
want to do
is strangle
the life
from the source
of each
discordance

we
endure
but our patience
and good humor
bulge to breaking
as the endless
human soundtrack
continually batters
our better
natures

one day
the dog
with the biggest
bark of all
will finally
end
this aural
assault

along
with the
concomitant
complaining
