Dogs 2010

ZEPHYR
(5/19/10)

you passed
me by
in the desert
but never saw
my face

you dine
a fine repast
on clothed tables
while I choke
on cactus
and sand

you laugh
with friends
and family
while I echo
through arid canyons
never knowing
another
human voice

we are
connected
you and I
although your memories
of our meeting
are whirling winds
barely touching
the topsoil
of your mind

still
some essential
gnosis of being
whispers to you
that a journey
must be taken
and a life
left behind

I
will be here
waiting
when your life
looks lost
and escape
to the wastelands
seems
your only
sanctuary

your agony
and destiny
will become one
and neither of us
will ever
be alone
again
