Dogs 2010

RELEASE
(5/10/10)

the
desert sand
fills my wounds
and slows
the insects
somewhat

my killer
long gone
I wait here
in the wastelands
for the next
mystery
to materialize

the quiet
is comforting
a light breeze
stirring the sparse
vegetation
the only
sound

no heartbeat
or respiration
to interrupt
this arid
symphony
of slight
variation

somewhere
a hum commences
muted at first
but intensifying
in insistence
rather quickly

now
a faint glow
permeates
my shallow grave
and I wait
patiently
for the source
as if
I have
a choice

dead
already
I have no
apprehension
or fear

I would
smile
to greet
the light
but my face
is frozen
in painful
realization

the approaching
roar
causes no discomfort
to deadened ears
the blinding
glare
no distress
to opaque
eyes

I sense
the changes
at some primal
existential level
combining all
living senses
into one

the maelstrom
completes me
and compels
me
to move
on
