Dogs 2007

I arrive in the parking lot
I walk to the building
I unlock the door
I disarm the alarm
I walk down the hall
I open the offices
I turn on the lights
I bring up the computers
I process and distribute emails
I run the daily reports

I wait
for the others
to arrive
at 8
in the am

it is not
their fault

the boss
will come in
when the sun
is high and warm
just before noon
he doesn't know
any of the passwords
or how his business
actually works
from day to day

it is not
his fault

I am
the furry freak engine
that keeps the machine
sputtering barely along
and there is nobody
else to blame
for this miserable
fucking mess
but me

I should be
digging ditches

I'll sleep in
